Pilates history

Tonight I was invited to give a talk and slideshow on Pilates and its history, to the lovely ladies of Staunton on arrow WI.  I love the opportunity to talk about this inspiring man..it gives my work context, roots, foundations and connection to a movement system 100 years old.

It’s possible these days to qualify to teach pilates  in just 2 weekends, without having to learn ANYTHING of the man who invented it or his philosophies on the human mind, body and spirit. However, having some wider knowledge , gives meaning and depth to teaching and makes pilates more than just a series of exercises but part of a continual , evolving, movement experience rooted in time.

My next talk is to Eye WI on April 18th maybe see you there.
