Movement solutions…

Most of our spinal rotation is performed by the thoracic spine (the part of the spine which has attachments to the rib cage) . It’s one of the joint actions that often becomes restricted, making movements such as looking over your shoulder to reverse the car, more tricky.( For those of us who still like to drive those types of car!)

When clients come for an initial assessment, it’s common to see a difference in spinal rotation one side compared to the other, often linked to being right or left handed.

This ‘thread the needle’ pilates exercise is one I share with clients, to restore thoracic rotation, in both directions. Because the body is an integrated system, it also improves neck , shoulder and lower back function, as well as breathing and circulation. It’s a move well worth finding time for .

Spring is in the air…

With day light hours starting to increase and birds getting lively, spring is definitely in the air!

Like many of my coaching clients, I’m a keen gardener, currently thumbing through seed catalogues, sorting out pots and preparing for the forthcoming growing season!

At the same time, gradually building up my own physical fitness , to prepare for the increase in physical activity that the coming months promise.

Pilates one to one sessions start back from Jan 8th.

You can join me in Leominster, for some one to one personal coaching, whether you want help with backpain , improving posture or just generally feeling fitter, pilates gives good results.

A special service I offer, which I know my clients found really helpful in 2023, is the creation of personalised videos for home practise. I’ll be continuing to offer these included in the cost of the session. So you can be sure that the workout you’re doing is specific to your body, based on assessment, rather than a general class workout or random search on YouTube.
